November 12, 2017

Dear SCHS Families,

November signals the season of THANKSGIVING, a time to reflect on all the blessings God has given us. I want to thank YOU, our parents, grandparents and guardians who are sacrificing so much to send your students to Springfield Catholic High School. Thanks also to our student body, who daily bless us with their kindness, courtesy and even sometimes challenges. I am truly blessed to work with our wonderful faculty and staff for their commitment to Catholic education.  A special note of appreciation to those at SCHS that sometimes we take for granted: Mrs. Merz, Mrs. Bolls, the Central Office, custodians and maintenance staffs and cafeteria workers. And then finally to the many volunteer Boards,  alums and benefactors for their hard work, financial support and prayers to make SCHS a special place. The SCHS Community has much to be proud and thankful for at this time of year.

It is the the people in our lives that make all the difference in the world for us each and every day. Take time during this month of November to thank God for them AND thank them as well. Gratitude is much needed in this fast paced world in which we live.

Congratulations to the following students who qualify for the state math competition in April: Nate DeVoss (9), Caleb Estal (10), Eleanor Bentley (11), Nick Crites (11), and Morgan Ellis (12).

Please join us for our all school Mass on Wednesday @ 9 AM of this week.  Please remind your student to dress in Mass Dress Code.

The Students for Life Group and Mr. Wood hosted a successful blood drive on Friday. Eighty-six students & teachers donated blood.

Please remind your student to bring in non-perishable food items for our Food Drive.  We would like to help the local parishes replenish their food pantries after the Thanksgiving season.

Thursday, November 16th is the monthly school board meeting at 7 PM.  It was rescheduled from last week. Parents are always welcome.

Please, plan on attending, the fall musical, “Singing In the Rain.”  These students have worked so hard on this production!  Tickets are on sale for November 17-19.

Sothern Studio will be here on November 28th for students needing pictures or retakes.  Please return original package if you want retakes.

The Speech and Debate Team will be hosting a tournament on December 1 & 2.   This is quite the event and they can use all the help we can give.  Contact Mr.s Hance (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) for information on how you can help.  Thank you!

Roy Petitfils, licensed counselor, author, and national speaker will be coming to speak to the students at Springfield Catholic on the morning of Dec. 5.  We will also host an evening for teachers, youth leaders, and parents on Monday, Dec. 4 at Holy Trinity parish.  His topic will be,  “What your kids want you to know but will not tell you.”  Please see the attached flyer.
